1993

PIHA Pty Ltd (PIHA) was formed. PIHA was a manufacturing and contracting business with expertise in the construction of pipelines and site infrastructure within the mining industry. PIHA later merged to form part of Mineral Resources Limited as we know it today.

1995

Crushing Services International Pty Ltd, was formed. CSI is a leading contract crushing service provider to the mining industry. CSI later merged to form part of Mineral Resources Limited as we know it today and in 2019 commenced trading as CSI Mining Services.

1996

Process Minerals International Pty Ltd (PMI) was formed. PMI started as a minerals processing company. Today, PMI is a leading minerals processor, producer and exporter. PMI later merged to form part of Mineral Resources Limited as we know it today.

1998

PIHA is awarded the Century Zinc Slurry Pipeline contract. This was the longest underground slurry pipeline in the world at 304km.

2001

PIHA is awarded the Murraylink Project, a 180km HVDC underground power cable project. Commenced crushing operations in The Granites, Northern Territory.

2002

CSI commenced crushing services at Wodgina. PIHA was named as the overall winner of the Case Earth Awards for the Murraylink Project.

2004

Commenced crushing operations at KCGM super pit.

2005

Build, own and operate crushing plant at West Angelas.

2006

Mineral Resources Limited (MRL) was incorporated in July 2006, acquiring PIHA, PMI and CSI. MRL lists on the ASX in July 2006.

2008

We achieved huge growth and increase in share value, with market capitalisation elevated to the ASX300.

2009

We acquired ownership of Polaris Metals NL, to develop Polaris’ iron ore tenements in the Yilgarn area of Western Australia. We signed a Farm-In agreement with Reed Resources to develop the Mt Marion Lithium Project.

2010

We achieved huge growth and increase in share value, with market capitalisation elevated to the ASX200. We acquired a 64% stake in MESA Minerals. We are awarded a ten-year Build, Own and Operate contract at FMG’s Christmas Creek 1 operations. We export our first iron ore shipment from Utah Point, Port Hedland.

2011

We began mining iron ore at our then, two site locations: Carina in the Yilgarn region of Western Australia; and Poondano, in the Pilbara. We move in to our current Head Office, located in Applecross, Perth. We commenced full operations at the Nicholas Down’s Manganese project, in conjunction with Hancock Prospecting.

2012

Commenced wet commission of FMG’s Christmas Creek 2. We acquired Phil’s Creek iron ore tenements, located in the Pilbara.

2013

We achieved huge growth and increase in share value, with market capitalisation elevated to the ASX100. We entered in to an Engineer, Procure and Construct contract for Rio Tinto’s Nammuldi Below Water Table Mine Project.

2014

We purchase our own rail locomotives and wagons.

2015

Our Super Quad road train had its first journey, hauling iron ore from Iron Valley to Utah Point.

2016

We commenced operations at Mt Marion. Installation of first LNG power station at Mt Marion. We purchase Wodgina lithium mine assets. We acquire Empire Oil & Gas. We begin producing carbon fibre composite materials, later known as CarbonArt. We begin to develop our own transportation system, now known as the Pilbara Infrastructure Project (PIP).

2017

Our Mt Marion Spodumene Concentrate plant is commissioned. First shipment of Lithium Direct Shipping Ore from both Wodgina and Mt Marion, bound for China.

2018

We acquire Koolyanobbing iron ore operations from Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. We commence Mt Marion Upgrade Project. We commence construction of the Wodgina Spodumene Concentrate Plant Pre-feasibility study for the Wodgina Lithium Hydroxide plant commences.
